Course Overview 

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. 

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for acquiring targeted skills in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming. 

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Entry Requirements 

Stamford College has the following entry requirements: 

Age Requirements

  • All students must of the age of 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission. 

English Requirement 

  • Entry into this course requires IELTS band score of 6 or equivalent in line with regulations OR
  • Successful completion of a qualification from an Institute where mode of instructions was English and where the course duration was no less than 6 months OR 
  • Completion of an approved English Language course OR
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test 

Academic Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification OR 
  • Successful completion of a qualification from an Institute where mode of instructions was English and where the course duration was no less than 12 months 

Course Details 

Delivery mode This program is delivered in the classroom and through mandatory structured self- study. Practical face to face training is provided in a commercial kitchen. A work placement is also required.

Duration 104 weeks, including 80 weeks study and 24 weeks of holidays.
